Branching irregular dichotomous, alternate at basal part, unilateral above to pectinate with branches arcuated. Main filaments 550-600 mm in diam. (in the middle portion) gradually decreasing to the base to 280-380 mm in diam. Cells in branches and branchlets cylindrical, slightly swollen at joints, 2-6(-10) diameters long. Apical cells curved, cylindrical, gradually tapering to round apices or slightly swollen in the middle portion. Cell walls 15-17 mm thick. Branches at joints one (rarely two).
